Applications are open for the Association of Commonwealth University (ACU) Commonwealth Summer School taking place from 13th to 20th August, 2016 at the University of Rwanda in Kigali, Rwanda. The Summer School provides a forum for high quality students from every corner of the commonwealth to come together and discuss multidisciplinary issues of global importance. It will focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and the role of universities in those aims.

Participants will spend the week working on a high-level group project, enabling delegates to begin building a personal and institutional contribution to the SDGs. The summer school will encompass the sub-themes of equality and gender, biodiversity, sustainable cities and conservation and development economics.

Eligibility:

The School is open to students from all disciplines who are in their final year of an undergraduate degree (with the intention to go on to postgraduate studies) or undertaking Masters or doctoral level degrees at any university in aCommonwealth member state.

Students who have already attended a previous summer school are not eligible to attend.

Cost:

The cost of the summer school is 250 euro for students from ACU member institutions and 350 euro for students from other Commonwealth universities. This induces registration, accommodation (in same sex shared rooms), travel and trasnport during the summer school (but not travel to the summer school), all meals at the conference venue and airport transfer on arrival (limited availability) to the venue.

Application Process:

Applications should be submitted usingthe online form. Priority will be given to students from member institutions who have not had the opportunity to travel outside their home region.
